The New Rig

I just wanted to lay down a little groove on the MVP2/Nautilus Mini combo I picked up Serenity Vapes yesterday...as my buddy Boston Rick would say, it's a wikkid frickin' pissa!

Instead of cycling 2, eGo style 900 mAh battery sticks all day and night the 2600 mAh MVP2 just keeps on keeping on and the adjustable airflow on the NM gives me the tightish draw I need that simulates smoking cigarettes. I find most tanks a little on the airy side
.
We cracked the MVP2 out of the box in the store, filled the tank and I was vaping on some smooth RY4 before I walked out the door. The battery charge indicator hasn't shown anything other than green and it hasn't had any of the tell tell signs of weakening that the pen style batteries do, i.e. having to lay down hard on the button and still starving for vapor.

Buyer Beware

I was talking to a friend tonight and he was really upset about a recent purchase of an “Aspire Nautilus” that he’d made. Mike found out after-the-fact that he’d been sold a knock-off product. To add insult to financial injury, he paid an authentic price of the counterfeit unit.

It only stands to reason that with this vaping craze there will be some businesses pop up for the sole purpose of riding the economic wave. These companies aren’t looking toward the future, don’t necessarily care about customer service, and shaving overhead is at the forefront of their business model.

Just be aware that there are lots of cheap stuffs floating around out there (in the stores as well as online) so try to be as savvy of a consumer as you possibly can be. Before you decide to buy, do some research. Ask questions until you either decide or decline to buy.

Side Note: For now, I’m not going to “out” this business, but Mike isn’t the first person I know that has had a bad experience with them. Needless to say, they won’t be listed/recommended on this blog.

What Is the Difference Between Ohms Ratings?

What does the ohms rating mean and what difference does this make to the vaping experience?
Simply put, ohms is a measure of electrical resistance or how freely electricity is able to travel.  Lower ohms will produce more heat and this will affect vapor production, throat hit, temperature of vapor and flavor.
At an experiential level, LOWER OHMS:
  • Will run hotter producing a warmer vapor
  • Will create more vapor
  • Will produce more throat hit
  • Will affect the flavor produced either by producing more flavor or by diminishing it.  This is individual to each flavor.
  • Will drain your battery faster
  • Will go through e-liquid a little faster which increases the likelihood of a dry hit if  your e-cigarette can't keep up with the rate of use
At an experiential level, HIGHER OHMS:
  • Will run a bit cooler producing a cooler vapor
  • Will create less vapor
  • Will produce a smoother vape with less throat hit
  • Will affect the flavor produced either amplifying or diminishing it depending on the individual flavor.
  • Will allow your battery to last longer between charges
  • Will use less e-liquid
So which one is better?  That is up to your personal preferences but hopefully this guide will help you decide!

Kangertech Evod2 VS Aspire Vivi Nova

After nearly a week of use, I’ve put together a few observations about my experiences with the Kangertech Evod2 and the Aspire Vivi Nova tanks…

The Kanger tank came out of the gate strong but started loosing ground to the field in the home stretch. It amazes me how a product that seemed to be so good could eventually come up so short. For the first 4 days I had no issues from the Kanger. It vaped strong, the draw was a pretty good, and flavor was great, BUT, things started going downhill fast.

When the flooding started I went through all of the steps necessary to correct it… to no avail. There is something wrong, but obviously I’m not smart enough to fix it which automatically makes this unit too much trouble to buy in the future. I will eventually fix this tank and continue to use it, but it’ll be an only child.

The Aspire Vivi Nova was not a smooth ride either…

The Aspire tank I bought leaked from the start. I spent a couple of hours trying to get it lined out, but it wasn’t meant to be. Come to find out, I just got a defective unit and exchanged it for another. The second Aspire tank has preformed flawlessly. It vapes great, the draw is a little airy for me but not too bad, and the flavor it terrific.

The Aspire Vivi Nova tank is a 510 thread, so if you plan to use one on your eGo style batteries you’ll need to pick up a large beauty ring to complete your assembly.
